Paint Horses Cash In at the World’s Richest Halter Championships
APHA halter exhibitors took home a share of $1 million in payouts at the National Halter Championship and The Breeders Halter Futurity. 

With more than $1 million in cash payouts up for grabs, halter horses and exhibitors converged on Des Moines, Iowa, September 18–23 for the combined National Halter Championship and The Breeders Halter Futurity. Paint Horses made their presence known at the all-breed event, capturing both color class and overall championships in many classes.

Open to Paints, Quarter Horses and Appaloosas, the National Halter Championship featured Open and Amateur classes for yearlings through aged horses. The Breeders Halter Futurity also offered Amateur and Open futurity classes for weanlings and yearlings sired by a select group of nominated stallions.

National Halter Championship winners include:

  • Intentionally Made and Lisa Maxwell—Amateur Yearling Mares Color Champion (second overall)
  • Well Executed and Robin Robinett—Amateur Yearling Stallions Color Champion (fifth overall)
  • Heck Ya Im Fancy and Charie Beseke—Amateur Yearling Geldings Color and Overall Champion
  • Elusive Elacion and Gerald Fleisner—Amateur 2-Year-Old Mares Color Champion (fifth overall)
  • Intensions and Mark Voegele—Amateur 2-Year-Old Stallions Color Champion (second overall)
  • FF Phenomenal Kid and Judy Ford—Amateur 2-Year-Old Geldings Color Champion (fifth overall)
  • MNC Kupcakez and Melinda Minnis—Amateur 3-Year-Old Mares Color and Overall Champion
  • TR Special Forces and Robin Robinett—Amateur 3-Year-Old Stallions Color Champion (third overall)
  • Multiples and Melinda Minnis—Amateur Aged Mare Color Champion (second overall)
  • The Only Alibi and Tracy Stenroos—Amateur Aged Gelding Color Champion (third overall)
  • FG A Tru Heiress and Claude Hicks—Yearling Mares Color Champion (seventh overall)
  • Well Executed and J.T. Mitchell—Yearling Stallions Color Champion (fourth overall)
  • Heck Ya Im Fancy and Olin Parker—Yearling Geldings Color Champion (second overall)
  • Intensions and Tim Finkenbinder—2-Year-Old Stallions Color and Overall Champion
  • FF Phenomenal Kid and Floyd Danley—2-Year-Old Geldings Color Champion (fourth overall)
  • MNC Kupcakez and Gene Parker—3-Year-Old Mares Color and Overall Champion
  • TR Special Forces and J.T. Mitchell—3-Year-Old Stallions Color Champion (third overall)
  • LWR Play To Win and Aaron Hall—Aged Mares Color Champion (third overall)
