Fast N Flashy

Three Paint Horses were among those fleet-footed barrel racers who took a shot at big cash payouts in the 2015 Cowboy Publishing Timed Event Challenge at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on February 4, but only one hung on for a piece of the payday.

Mor Jazz, a 2004 bay overo gelding, and owner Samantha Lyne of Stephenville, Texas, was 10th to go in the 60+ horse field, and the held the lead for quite some time with a smoking :15.33 run in the John Justin Arena. That was good enough to keep the duo in the Top 10 at the end of the night; they tied for ninth, taking home $871.65.

“Jimmy” is by Jazz Pep and out of Mora; in December 2014, Jimmy carried Samantha through several rounds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, and even finished third in Round 9. Read about their NFR debut in the 2015 edition of Flash magazine, available in March.
