Incoming President Ron Shelly prepared to lead APHA in 2015

In conjunction with the 2015 APHA Convention, Ron Shelly will take over the reins of the association as APHA president. Ron, a horseman from Georgetown, Texas, has been a longtime member of APHA—a Paint Horse owner since the 1980s and exhibitor since the ’90s, Ron has also served as an APHA national director since 2002. He was elected to the Executive Committee in 2009.

The combination of a business-focused background and absolute passion for the American Paint Horse has helped Ron bring the best to his role on the Executive Committee. He hopes to continue that momentum going forward to reach people interested in horses and bring them to the unique Paint Horse breed.

“I enjoy the camaraderie of the people involved in the association, and I hope this can be perpetuated for many generations,” Ron said. “I want people to find the opportunity through participation in our many APHA programs to build good memories for years to come.”

The Paint Horse Journal recently sat down with Ron to learn more about his background and goals for his presidency—check out the full article in the March 2015 Paint Horse Journal. Subscribe or renew at phj.apha.com/subscription or by calling (817) 222-6430.

Ron will take office on March 2 in the second session of the APHA Board of Directors meeting; the Executive Committee elections and rule change proposal voting take place at that meeting, as well.
