Youth World Show Scholarships – Donate Now 2016 Donors

Purpose
Starting with the 2015 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show, the APHF achieved the goal of having an all-scholarship show:

  • The intent is to increase memberships and financial stability for the APHA while providing a method for participants to receive a financial return on the funds spent during a youth show career, and to encourage youth to pursue their academic careers.
  • The program has been expanded from 10 halter classes to every World Championship class.
  • The long-term goal is to establish a Youth World Show Scholarship endowment that will permanently support the Youth World Show.
  • Money will be held in each exhibitor’s name each year they compete and earn scholarships. Scholarship funds must be applied for within one year of high school graduation and will be sent directly to the institution for tuition, books, housing, meals and lab fees only.

There are several ways to contribute for the 2016 AjPHA Youth World Show:

  • 2016 YWCS Performance Classes
  • All-Around Scholarships
  • Robyn Hanna Superior Sportsmanship Scholarship
2015 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show Scholarships
APHF Base Class Scholarships (for all World Championship Classes)
  • $500 – World Champion
  • $400 – Reserve World Champion
  • $250 – 3rd Place
  • $150 – randomly drawn exhibitor from each class
Halter Class Scholarships

Developed in 2013, this program began with individuals contributing to provide scholarships in Youth World Show Halter classes. For the 2016 Youth World Championship Show, the APHF base scholarship plus $32,500 in halter donations increased the scholarship payout to a total of $4,550 per class:

  • $1,200 – World Champion
  • $1,000 – Reserve World Champion
  • $800 – 3rd Place
  • $600 – 4th Place
  • $350 – 5th Place
  • $4200 – 6th Place
  • $150 – randomly drawn exhibitor from each class
  • $240 – No Trainer scholarship from each class
Selected Performance Class Scholarships 

Generous APHA members donated to selected performance classes at the 2016 Youth World Show. The APHF base scholarship plus $1,000 per selected class increased the scholarship payout in those classes to:

  • $750 – World Champion
  • $500 – Reserve World Champion
  • $400 – 3rd Place
  • $300 – 4th Place
  • $200 – 5th Place
  • $150 – randomly drawn exhibitor from each class
Power Performance High-Point Scholarships

Created in 2014, a pair of $500 scholarships was designated for the Power Performance High-Point exhibitor and Reserve High-Point winner. These awards recognize the Youth accumulating the most points in cattle classes, goat tying, barrel racing, pole bending, stake race, ranch horse pleasure and reining. The 2016 scholarships were funded by the Permian Basin Paint Horse Club and the Cross Timbers Paint Horse Club/Paint Performance Horse Super Stakes.

Rebecca Baker Scholarships

Created in 2015, an additional $500 in scholarship money is awarded to each of the the three reining classes in honor of the late Rebecca Baker of Bandera, Texas.
