Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program crowns 2014 champions

When Teresa Watson of Nowata, Oklahoma, started participating in APHA’s Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program, she thought it was a great opportunity to earn some extra cash aboard her Paint Horses. She never thought, however, that she’d be crowned PBRIP’s 2014 year-end champion and walk away with cash and prizes that include one year’s use of a Short-Go Series trailer, courtesy of APHA Corporate Partner Hart Trailers.

“I was just interested in doing the PBRIP sidepots. I really didn’t know what was going to go on with the year-end awards,” Teresa said. “It just worked out, and I’m really excited that my horse won the trailer.”

Nates Skipster, 2004 black tobiano gelding by Hallucinator and out of Skip Along Nichole (QH), earned 115 PBRIP points for the year-end championship—for the win they took home $1,000 and one year’s use of the Hart Short-Go Series trailer. Ez Jet Express, a 2009 black tobiano gelding by Lucky Bug Pilgrim and out of Expressive Clabbers (QH) earned 106 PBRIP points last year to finish second overall.

About PBRIP

The Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program made its debut in 2013 and is designed to bridge the gap between APHA and barrel racers who run Paints by making it easier for speed-enthusiasts to be involved in the association without having to attend traditional breed shows. PBRIP brings the breed to APHA members at barrel racing events nationwide by adding money to sidepots specifically for those enrolled in the program.
