On Tulsa Time

In the qualifier for the $86,890 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity G1, which took place June 11 at Fair Meadows Racetrack in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Psychedelic Scott nosed out Painted Turnpike to clock the fastest time. This is the first time in three qualifiers that Painted Turnpike has been dethroned from the No. 1 qualifying spot.

Psychedelic Scott is a 2013 gray solid gelding by Judys Lineage and out of The Hippie Chick (QH)—so far this year, he’s logged two trial wins and a victory in the PSBA Futurity in April; he also ran second in the Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity G1 in May, just behind Painted Turnpike, who also won the Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity G1 in March. Painted Turnpike is a 2013 bay solid stallion by PYC Paint Your Wagon (QH) and out of High Class Turnpike.

Trainer Dee Keener has the most qualifiers for the finals, which takes place July 25 at Fair Meadows; he will saddle Psychedelic Scott, owned by Paint Horse Queens; WL Mr Worldwide, owned by Wade Leggett; Momas Lil Wagon, owned by Carole Vann Stacy; and Imahotchicken, owned by Shirley Wheeler. Matt Whitekiller and Mollie Devereaux both will saddle two. Matt has Painted Turnpike, owned by Nolan Pevehouse and MHM Hotwire, owned by Dan and Kaye Jones; Mollie has Royal Country Snowman, owned by Jimmy Maddux, and DTL Head Honcho, owned by Tonya and Dean Lester.

No Appaloosas qualified for the finals.
