New virtual series offers opportunities for youth

APHA is rolling out a series of virtual programs developed to encourage participation and involvement for the Youth Paint Horse enthusiast. The virtual programs will include contests such as public speaking, hippology, horse bowl and horse judging.

To kick off the series, AjPHA will be holding its first virtual-prepared public speaking contest April 12-16, 2021. The contest will have two age divisions: 13 & Under and 14-19, and awards will be given in each age division. The Prepared Public Speaking contest will have a specific topic that will encourage contestants to research and develop in-depth knowledge about a horse industry topic. The topic will be announced prior to the contest, giving contestants at least two weeks to prepare and videos will be collected during the contest period.

This contest will be FREE for all AjPHA members. If you are not an AjPHA member, but would like to participate, you can purchase a 1-year $25 AjPHA membership at https://www.aphaonline.org/APHAOnline/join/join.aspx.

For more information on the virtual series program, please contact APHA’s Director of Youth Activities at [email protected].
