APHA Professional Horseman Sidney Thomas dies

Robert “Sid” Sidney Thomas (pictured above with wife Karen) of Morganton, NC, died January 23. APHA sends condolences to Sid’s family and friends.

He was born on November 8, 1954, in Buncombe County to the late Henry and Lillian Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jason “JT” Thomas.

He loved his Double C Acres family where he was known as a cherished and true horseman. He won many world titles showing horses and was a member of the APHA Professional Horsemen. He also served on the APHA Professional Horsemen committee from 2015-2019.

He loved his family and always wanted the absolute best for them. Sidney was a great, Christian man who loved his Lord and Savior, and loved sharing what Jesus is all about. He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend.

Sid will be missed by his APHA family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Karen and the whole family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27 at Hartland Baptist Church (Morganton, NC).
