Merial Supports APHA Regional and National Programs

Merial, makers of ULCERGARD® (omeprazole), recently renewed its support of APHA to include a corporate partnership and added participation in APHA’s Paint Alternative Competition and year-end awards programs.

ULCERGARD is the official ulcer remedy of APHA and the only medicine that is proven and FDA-approved to help prevent equine stomach ulcers. Merial representatives will be available at this year’s APHA World Championship Shows to discuss equine stomach ulcers and what ULCERGARD can do to help keep horses protected. Plus, exhibitors will be eligible to receive special offers through participation in the ULCERGARD Trial Program.

In addition to the APHA World Shows, Merial will also be participating in several 2014 APHA-approved events, including:

  • Kentucky Paint Horse Club Spring Paint-O-Rama, April 5–6 in Frankfort, Kentucky
  • Rocky Mountain Rendezvous Paint-O-Rama, April 11–13 in Denver
  • Western Regional Zone 2 Zone-O-Rama, May 23–25 in South Jordan, Utah
  • World Wide Paint Horse Congress Paint-O-Rama July 30–August 3 in Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • Palmetto Paint Horse Club Fall Futurity & Paint-O-Rama, October 3–5 in Clemson, South Carolina

*Dates are tentative and subject to change. Please refer to the official APHA event schedule.

Merial’s participation at each regional show is unique to the event. Recently, Merial representatives agreed to be the title sponsor of the 2014 World Wide Paint Horse Congress’ Get of Sire and Produce of Dam classes.
“We are excited to again partner with the APHA and its members,” Senior Equine Product Manager Beckie Peskin said. “We are honored to be a part of an organization with great horses and competitors, and admire APHA members’ commitment to keeping their horses healthy. Many people on the Merial team are involved with horses as a hobby, so we understand and appreciate the dedication and hard work it takes to compete at the level these shows represent.”

Due to the success of the ULCERGARD trial program at past APHA-approved events, Merial and APHA agreed to expand the opportunity for members to learn more about equine stomach ulcers. This year, APHA members participating in the association’s Paint Alternative Competition program will also be eligible to participate in the trial program. PAC rewards horses and exhibitors who excel outside of traditional APHA-approved competitions.

To participate in PAC and earn credits, your Paint must be enrolled in the program; the horse’s owner must also be an APHA member to receive awards earned through PAC. To learn more or to sign up for PAC, visit apha.com/programs/pac.
