Longtime APHA member and vendor Marti Ciborowski McLain dies

APHA is saddened to announce the loss of Marti Ciborowski McLain, a longtime APHA member and trade show vendor.  She is the wife of longtime trainer and APHA Judge Rick McLain.

Mary Martha “Marti” McLain, 64, of Forth Worth passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, from a sudden illness. Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Marti was born Oct. 15, 1948, in Canton, Ohio, to Eugene Norman Ohlemacher and Bernadette Elizabeth Weyer Ohlemacher. She attended Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and St. Mary’s Dominican College in New Orleans, La. She embraced life with a passion and her children were her greatest pride and joy. She instilled in them a supreme core value system and devoted her life to supporting their dreams. She was their greatest supporter, attending every sports event and keeping meticulous statistics of their athletic endeavors. She was fascinated by things equine, an interest shared by her children. She traveled across the U.S. attending the children’s show horse competitions and after the children moved on, she established Marti’s Tack Shack and continued to make the show horse competition circuit as well as some of the rodeos. Marti will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, “Grammy” (as she was known to her grandchildren) and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Ohlemacher; and stepfather, William Rogers. Survivors: Mother, Bernadette Rogers of Sun City Center, Fla.; husband, Rick of Fort Worth; sons, Dr. Carl Ciborowski (Amy) of Frisco and Kyle Ciborowski (Lane) of Dallas; daughter, Kristin Ballard (Chris) of Deerfield, Ill.; brother, Leo Ohlemacher(Evangline) of Apollo Beach, Fla.; nephew, Paul Ohlemacher (Jessica) of Pearland; grandchildren, Carlee, Camryn and Jacob Ciborowski, Evy Ciborowski, Kierstyn, Cole, Cash, Sunnie and Rainn Ballard; stepchildren, Lynelle McLain of Corinth, Lonnie McLain (Lindsay) of Altoona, Iowa, and Leigh Roudabush (Dan) of Brooklyn, Iowa; great-nephew, Charlie Ohlemacher; and great-niece, Addison Ohlemacher.
