APHA welcomes Shawna Hettick as manager of retail operations

APHA is pleased to welcome Shawna Hettick as the association’s manager of retail operations. In her role, Shawna will work to develop the PH Barn Door store to increase revenue and promote the Paint Horse brand.

Shawna is from Gig Harbor, Washington, and has always had a love for horses. She competed with her first horse in 4-H and currently owns a Quarter Horse named Superior Source.

“My horses are my everything,” she said. “I absolutely love everything about them, from their quirks and personalities to how they give me their all.”

Shawna graduated from Central Washington University in 2019 with a bachelor’s in business administration, specializing in marketing management and a minor in communications. During this time, she worked at the Old Mill Country Store and discovered how much she enjoyed engaging with customers in a retail setting. Following graduation, she joined the APHA herd as the sales and marketing intern, where she had the opportunity to expand her retail experience.

“As the sales and marketing intern for APHA, one of my responsibilities was working on projects for the PH Barn Door, which made me realize how much possibility there was with the store,” Shawna said. “A customer chooses to come into your store. It is important for them to have the best experience while there, and for them to feel welcome.”

APHA’s move to the historic Fort Worth Stockyards is especially exciting for Shawna, who is eager to develop APHA’s retail offerings and help educate the many visitors to the store about the Paint Horse, thanks to its new location.

“My goal is to have every customer walk out with a smile, new knowledge of the Paint Horse and the desire to come back,” she said. “The move to the Fort Worth Stockyards is huge for the PH Barn Door and APHA. There is a constant flow of people wanting to experience the Western lifestyle, and that is something we can offer them.”
