Kalyn Sanders | Paint Horse Journal | April 15, 2014

golf-tourney-buckleJoin APHA and Quarter Horse News for a fun-filled day of golfing, live music, barbecue and auctions, all to benefit Western Wishes. The Quarter Horse News Charity Golf Tournament takes place April 25 in Euless, Texas.

APHA is proud to be a hole sponsor of this event and also be represented by a team comprised of APHA Executive Director Billy Smith and APHA members Ronnie Stallings, Dr. Dave Wiggins and Floyd Danley.

The golf tournament kicks off with a 1 p.m. shotgun tee time at the Texas Star Golf Course in Euless, Texas, just outside of Fort Worth and close to APHA headquarters. The winners of the golf tournament will receive belt buckles from Gist Silversmiths, APHA’s official buckle provider, and second place will receive trophy headstalls from Martin Saddlery.

Not a golf pro but still interested in supporting Western Wishes? Live and silent auctions during the tournament will also help raise money for this great organization. Items including a fully catered suite for up to 20 people at Texas Rangers ballpark on a chosen Saturday, a 100X beaver cowboy hat from CHROME advertiser Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, an Icehole Cooler, saddle racks from W-W Livestock Systems and much more.

After the golfing is over, you’ll have fun watching bloopers of the day’s activities, eating delicious food from Texas Star and listening to live music by local recording artist Cody Dell Akridge & The Loose Reins Band. And remember, all this fun benefits a wonderful charity near and dear to horse lovers: Western Wishes.

Since 1994, Western Wishes has turned dreams into lasting memories for countless children faced with adversity and who love the Western way of life. This award-winning program rewards kids for their fighting spirit and communicates their stories of courage, faith and determination to get back in the saddle again. Western Wishes has created a program to put these inspiring kids in the spotlight, if just for a moment, and encourages them to reach for the stars and have their dreams come true.
