APHA Convention offers free seminars, speakers and more

In February 2014, APHA debuts its one-meeting-per-year convention format. Scheduled for February 21-24 at the Westin DFW Airport in Irving, Texas, APHA’s Convention & Membership meeting features an extended format and educational opportunities for exhibitors, judges, show managers and more.

“Our national directors really pushed for a longer committee sessions,” Executive Director Billy Smith said. “To accommodate that, we added an extra day and included some really valuable symposia, speakers and sessions that our attendees will find very valuable.”

On February 21, APHA Director of Judges Dave Dellin and Judge Committee Chairman Dave Denniston will present “The Game Plan.” This free afternoon session, scheduled from 1 – 6 p.m., comes straight from the Paint Horse Journal’s popular 12-part series that breaks down more than a dozen horse show events from both a judge and trainer’s points of view. Dellin and Denniston will review Western pleasure, hunter under saddle, Western riding, trail, horsemanship and halter in this half-day seminar designed specifically for exhibitors.

On February 22 from 5 – 6 p.m., attendees will be treated to a free seminar presented by Dr. Rick Rigsby, a world-renowned speaker who will empower members to become great people who do great things. He offers commonsense wisdom to those desiring to rise to greater levels of excellence. Immediately following the Rick Rigsby seminar at 6:30 p.m. is a complimentary welcome reception generously hosted by Anderson Bean.
