APHA Breeders’ Trust 2013 Top Earners Announced

Two familiar faces topped the 2013 APHA Breeders’ Trust lists. Zippos Sensation was once again named No. 1 Leading Breeders’ Trust Sire for 2013, his 13th year to earn the title. Timeless Assets was again the No. 1 Breeders’ Trust Earner, which represented his fourth-consecutive time to earn the honor.

Zippos Sensation had 144 foals earn 6,973 points in 2013, generating $59,079 in Breeders’ Trust earnings. Simons Show Horses of Aubrey, Texas, own the 1993 sorrel overo stallion, who is by Zippo Pine Bar (QH) and out of Satin N Lace. Zippo is APHA’s Lifetime Leading Sire of both performance point earners and performance points earned.
Timeless Assets, a 2005 bay overo gelding by Frozen Assets and out of This Times Divine, earned 1,702 points in 2013—that resulted in a Breeders’ Trust total payout of $14,420. Owner Coleen Bull of Reed City, Michigan, receives 70 percent—more than $10,000—of the earnings. “Tucson’s” nominator, breeder Charlene Lee Maybury of West Jefferson, Ohio, receives 10 percent; Bunny Knaus of Monticello, Illinois, subscribed Frozen Assets to the Breeders’ Trust—as a result, she takes home 20 percent of Tucson’s earnings as well.
