APHA and Markel Renew Partnership; Members Reap Benefits Online

The association and insurance company celebrate 15 years of cooperation.

FORT WORTH – Long-time American Paint Horse Association sponsor Markel Insurance Company has renewed its support for a 15th year. Markel will sponsor two of APHA’s most vital services: APHA Online Foal Registration and Online Stallion Breeding Report.

For more than 50 years, Markel has provided equine and property insurance to the horse industry. As the official equine insurance provider of APHA, Markel’s commitment to excellent customer service extends to its sponsorship of APHA’s online services. Members can protect their investment by instantly applying for insurance for foals online with Markel while registering horses through the APHA Online Foal Registration system. Breeders reporting information through APHA Online Stallion Breeding Reports can also instantly apply for insurance for their breeding stock with Markel online through the same access point.

The company is also a co-sponsor of the annual “From the Heart” award. Each year, the American Junior Paint Horse Association president identifies a service project, and Markel honors an outstanding regional club for their participation in that project with the award.

“The people at Markel understand the horse industry,” APHA Executive Director Billy Smith said.  “They make a lot of data-driven decisions. They do a good job at positioning their premium rates to fit a variety of horse owners. They’re willing to work at competitive rates at every level, and that’s pretty powerful for our membership.”

“APHA is one of the pre-eminent Western-related horse associations and our partnership with APHA is one of our most long-standing relationships,” Markel Managing Director of Equine and Farm Programs Don Faison said. “Markel is committed to giving back to the horse industry. We’re in the barns, at the shows and are very visible in our support of APHA and its members. We want to help eliminate concerns so they know they’ve got the right coverage and can enjoy the experience of the horse with their family.”
