APHA and Markel Renew Partnership; Members Gain Added Online Benefits
Longtime American Paint Horse Association sponsor Markel Insurance Company recently renewed its support for a 16th year. In addition to continuing as the official equine insurance provider of APHA, Markel will now offer APHA members hassle free mortality and theft quotes within 24 hours.

For more than 50 years, Markel has provided equine and property insurance to the horse industry. Markel’s commitment to excellent customer service extends to its sponsorship of APHA’s online services. Members can now protect their investment by applying for a horse mortality and theft quote while registering foals and horses, and completing stallion breeding reports through aphaonline.com. After the applicant submits the required data needed—most of which will be automatically generated from their APHA records—a Markel representative will contact them directly within 24 hours with a quote.

The company also sponsors APHA’s annual “From the Heart” award. Each year, the American Junior Paint Horse Association president identifies a service project, and Markel honors the regional club whose members most actively participate in the presidential service project with the award and $500.

APHA Executive Director Billy Smith says Markel is an experienced company that is passionate about horses.

“Their associates are horse people and do a great job positioning their premium rates to fit a variety of horse owners,” Billy said. “Whether a member has one horse or an entire barn full, keeps horses for business or pleasure, Markel will fully protect them.”

Markel’s Executive Director Don Faison says Markel is committed to giving back to the horse industry.

“We’re in the barns, at the shows and are very visible in our support of APHA and its members,” Don said. “We want to help eliminate concerns so members know they’ve got the right coverage and can enjoy the experience of the horse with their family.”
