The Panama Paint Horse Association might be small, but its shows, like the one held on February 15, are adding thrill and excitement for exhibitors and spectators.

John Letham of Yukon, Oklahoma, traveled to Santiago de Veraguas to judge the show, which was held in conjunction with the Industrial, Agricultural, Tourism and Handicraft Fair Veraguas in Sona, one of the largest fairs in the region; it was a joint venture between the PPHA and the Panama Appaloosa Horse Club.
“They had a large crowd of spectators with a large interest in the spotted horses,” John said. “The quality of horses was excellent, and the crowd would really get excited cheering and clapping every time their favorite horse would win. The kids could hardly stay away!”
Although there were carnival rides and other livestock showing at the same time, John says a big portion of the crowd flocked to the horse arena to watch the Paint Horse show.
