Zippos Sensation and Im Good To The Max claim top earner spots for 2020 Breeders’ Trust

2020 may have been a year full of uncertainty but one positive outcome was the increase in the Breeders’ Trust point value which resulted in larger payouts for exhibitors. The Breeders’ Trust continues to generate payouts to all who play a factor in the life of a foal, the stallion subscriber, breeder, and owner. In 2020, the Breeders’ Trust paid out more than $410,000 to participants, with a per-point value of $11.34. This increase came from a smaller number of points being paid out due to COVID-19 show cancellations. With increased shows in 2021, it is expected for the point value to decrease for the 2021 show year.

Starting with the 2020 show year, payouts under $50 will not be issued and those funds will be reverted to the subsequent year’s Trust fund, assisting in the stabilization of the point value. The previous minimum check value of $10 had not been changed since the program’s inception in 1994. With changing times, this adjustment will allow the Trust to stabilize itself annually with additional funding guaranteed. With the decrease in stallion participation funds, a trend that has occurred over the last several years; these additional funds will help keep the Breeders’ Trust program viable. The Breeders’ Trust checks were mailed March 23, so keep an eye on your mailbox.
