New millionaire milestones reached by Paint racing stallions

Paint racing sires CRM Livewire and Awesome Chrome achieved new Million Dollar Sire benchmarks in 2021, based on lifetime offspring earnings.

Now a $4 Million Sire, CRM Livewire is one of only four Paint sires to reach that honor. The 2009 bay tobiano stallion, who is by Cartel Success (QH) and out of Elaina Go Go, has 223 registered foals to date, with 172 who have raced. By the end of 2021, CRM Livewire offspring had $4,002,637 in Paint racing earnings. He ranks No. 4 on APHA’s lifetime leading sires list by offspring earnings; the stallion was bred and is owned by Dan and Kaye Jones of Kemp, Texas.

Awesome Chrome, a 2001 sorrel overo stallion by First Down Dash (QH) and out of Okeydokey Baby (QH), became a Paint racing $2 Million Sire in 2021, with total offspring earnings of $2,008,513. Owned by the Awesome Chrome Partnership of McAllen, Texas, Awesome Chrome was bred by Bob and Jerry Gaston of Edinburg, Texas. He has 282 registered foals, and 170 of those have race records.

APHA saw 264 Paints race for purses worth $3.35 million in 2021.
