More than 130 vie to cash in on chrome at the 2021 NCHA Futurity

More than 130 Paint Horses are putting their chrome on the line at the 2021 NCHA Metallic Cat World Championship Futurity, taking place through December 11 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Chrome Cash entries are still open, and the current number of participants (139) already exceeds 2020’s participants by more than 250%.

Registered Paints have the opportunity to compete for additional cash through APHA’s Chrome Cash program, which provides bonus payouts for top-placing Paints. A total of $60,000 is up for grabs in five classes at the NCHA Futurity:

  • Open (51 Chrome Cash entries)
  • Non-Pro (37 Chrome Cash entries)
  • Limited Non-Pro (14 Chrome Cash entries)
  • Amateur (17 Chrome Cash entries)
  • Unlimited Amateur (20 Chrome Cash entries)

Open

Two rounds are complete, and it took a 433.5 to advance to the semi-finals, which take place December 10. Twelve Chrome Cash entries are advancing, and the top three are:

  • TF CHEX ARE BLUE (440.5)
  • PURDYS REBEL (439)
  • WOOD SHE B MAGIC (439)

Non-Pro & Limited Non-Pro

Two rounds are complete, and it took a 431 to advance to the Non-Pro semi-finals, slated for December 8. Congratulations to our top Chrome Cash contenders so far:

  • SMOOTHE TALKIN (436.5)
  • PONTIAC BELIEVER (434.5)
  • SHUTTUP N HISS ME (434.5)
  • ONE NITE IN FT WORTH (433.5)

The Limited Non-Pro took a 209 to advance; those semi-finals take place December 3. Top Chrome Cash contenders are:

  • PONTIAC BELIEVER (218)
  • CHYNA TOWN (215.5)
  • MAREN MORRIS (214)
  • REBELLIOUS PEPTO (214)

Amateur

The Amateur competition started November 30, so it remains to be seen which Paints might advance to the finals. Included in the contenders are 2020 Amateur Futurity Champion Makayla Cowan who is showing CATTYS REYOFIRIDESSA and MAREN MORRIS, as well as Michelle Sly on PRINCESS SIGALA and Gerda Williams on MISS SMART WHEELZ.
