Live Moonshine and WF Turnpike Candy are APHA’s 2020 World Champion Running Horses

APHA congratulates our 2020 Paint racing champions, including world champion running horses Live Moonshine and WF Turnpike Candy.

World Champion Running Paint Horse: Live Moonshine

Live Moonshine, a 4-year-old black tobiano gelding by former APHA World Champion CRM Livewire out of PRP Sedona Sunset, earned his second World Champion Running Horse title in 2020. Owned and bred by Dan and Kaye Jones of Kemp, Texas, Live Moonshine won three stakes in 2020 out of six starts, including the Paul Harber Stakes, the G1 Cowboy & Western Heritage Stakes and the G1 Lewis Wartchow Memorial. The gelding also logged his top speed index of 99 this year, during a Will Rogers Downs allowance race in November. His impressive career includes 12 wins (7 stakes), two seconds and one third from 22 starts with lifetime earnings of $187,148.

World Champion Solid Paint-Bred Running Horse: WF Turnpike Candy

In his first year running, WF Turnpike Candy racked up an impressive $106,220 in earnings with four wins, three seconds and one third in 11 starts. His stake wins include the G1 PSBA Futurity and the G1 Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity. He was also third in the G1 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity. The 2018 sorrel solid gelding is by multiple World Champion Painted Turnpike and out of SW Eye Candy; bred by Dee Keener and Steve Wright of Coweta, Oklahoma, WF Turnpike Candy is owned by Painted Faith Racing of Inola, Oklahoma.
