Circle the Wagons, The Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering is ON!

The Fort Worth Stockyards will host the 31st annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering & Western Swing Festival, October 28-30 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Cowboy Gathering patrons will continue to experience the wide array of cowboy culture and events they have come to love, from ranch rodeo to the Western Swing Festival, chuck wagon competition and more. It’s a weekend built for families on the back of the first American hero, the cowboy.

New this year, the American Paint Horse Association’s for-profit subsidiary, Marked for Greatness Properties, will take over the event with continued leadership from Red Steagall and the tremendous volunteers who have paved the path for 30 successful years. Marked for Greatness Properties’ mission is to preserve and promote the Western way of life, while expanding the creativity of the Western industry by creating sustainable revenue generation.

As a founding member of the Cowboy Gathering, Red believes in the importance of the Cowboy Gathering and what it does to honor the Western way of life.

“Cowboys and cowgirls have paved the way for all of America and continue to be a key component to feeding fellow Americans,” Red said. “I could not be more proud for the Cowboy Gathering to continue on into the future, and I feel we have found the perfect team to pull this wagon forward.”

“The Cowboy Gathering is a Stockyards staple and has a long-rooted history in preserving the cowboy way of life. We are honored Red has handed the reins to us, and we hope to continue this event for many years to come,” said Steven Hayes, with Marked for Greatness Properties. “The cowboy culture is the foundation of America. With Red’s help, we plan to continue the legacy of this event and the people who believe in it.”

APHA is hosting a reception May 31 at 6 p.m. honoring the volunteers who have helped make the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering a success. It takes place at APHA’s international headquarters on Mule Alley in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

About The Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering & Western Swing Festival

More than 30 years ago, a group of cowboys put together a cowboy poetry gathering in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas, designing a program that celebrates the men and women who make their living horseback, working cattle and providing beefsteak for the dinner tables of America. The Cowboy Gathering has continued to grow and serve as a platform to present competitions for Red Steagall’s scholarship program, which has awarded more than $1 million to deserving young people in pursuit of education. redsteagallcowboygathering.com
