Chrome Cash adds $72K+ to payouts for Paint cutting horses at the 2021 NCHA Futurity

Money talks, and that was certainly the case for 140 Paint Horses competing for APHA’s Chrome Cash purse at the 2021 National Cutting Horse Association World Championship Futurity, taking place November 17-December 11 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Facts

  • $72,105 in total Chrome Cash payouts for the 2021 NCHA Futurity
  • More than 250% increase over 2020 participation

“The year-over-year increase in participation of Chrome Cash classes has been nothing short of amazing,” APHA Executive Director Billy Smith said. “Competitors love chrome on their horses, and we are thrilled the Chrome Cash program is rewarding them for their successes against the best of the best.”

Launched in 2018, Chrome Cash was designed to increase payouts for registered Paint Horses at select cutting horse events across the country. Now , Chrome Cash classes can be found at cutting, reining, reined cow horse and roping events across the country. The NCHA Futurity Sale also featured some big bids for up-and-coming cutting horses, and Paints were right there in the mix, too.

Purdy Smooth Talker, a 2019 sorrel overo mare by Smooth Talkin Style and out of Purdy Bet, brought a bid of $600,000. G Ezy, a 2019 sorrel solid stallion by Reyzin The Cash and out of Wood Ya (QH), drew a $90,000 bid. And the 2020 black tobiano stallion Hashtag Blessed, by Hashtags (QH) and out of Cinderella Cat, drew a bid of $75,000.
