Celebrate 50-year APHA breeder Lloyd Johanningmeier

When Lloyd Johanningmeier submitted the registration for his 2021 bay solid filly One Hot Kandy Krush in spring 2022, it represented more than just another foal on the ground—the registration cemented Lloyd as one of APHA’s most enduring breeders, who has produced registered Paint Horse foals for 50 years.

The horseman owns Scenic View Ranch in Monona, Iowa, and has been breeding registered Paints since 1970. He’s produced more than 925 APHA foals over 50 crop years. He stands a number of Paint and Quarter Horse stallions, including Scenic Rio Krymsun, Scenic Royal Flush, Scenic Back Road (QH) and Scenic High Voltage (QH).

In recognition of his dedication to the Paint breed, APHA will present Lloyd with the Gregg Reisinger Paint Horse Breeder Legacy award.

The honor will be presented as part of the 2022 APHA Hall of Fame & Awards Ceremony, starting at 6 p.m. at TX Whiskey Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas. Click here for a full list of honorees. Exclusive ceremony tickets and table reservations are available for this special night; the doors then open to everyone for a free after-party beginning at 8 p.m.
