APHA Chrome Cash has $50K up for grabs in 2023

With $50,000 in Chrome Cash matching funds available to show organizers in 2023, now more shows than ever before will be able to pay out cash to Paint Horse owners.

APHA’s popular Chrome Cash program is growing in 2023. Now, there are three ways for your show to generate payouts for Paints! Already popular amongst cutting, reining and reined cow horse exhibitors, the 2023 Chrome Cash program is offered to all show organizers and Paint Horse owners.

The Chrome Cash program gives exhibitors a direct incentive to show APHA-registered horses without complicated rules, ownership requirements or additional program enrollments.

3 Ways to Incorporate Chrome Cash at Your 2023 Events

  1. Apply for Chrome Cash Matching Funds

We’ve got $50,000 in matching Chrome Cash available for distribution in 2023—your show applies for these funds, and agrees to offer matching cash at the event for eligible Paints! This DOUBLES the benefit to APHA members, while meeting exhibitors where they are—whether that’s at an APHA-approved show or discipline-specific event.

  • Any APHA-approved event can request matching funds between $5,000 to $10,000 per event.
  • All funds must be paid out to APHA-registered horses –Regular Registry and Solid Paint-Bred registered horses are eligible. Owners must be current APHA members.
  • Applications for funding may be submitted beginning December 27, 2022 for the 2023 show year and will be approved by staff discretion based upon their potential for growth and for generating memberships, registrations and transfers. Geographical location will also be a consideration.
Applications will be accepted from December 27, 2022, until February 1, 2023, or until all funding is dispersed. Apply online beginning December 27, 2022

  1. Apply for Chrome Cash Status Without Matching Funds

Events can apply for Chrome Cash designation, funding its own Chrome Cash sidepot for Paints via entry fees instead of matching funds from APHA directly.

  1. Offer an International Chrome Cash Event

International events can also offer Chrome Cash events—these have separate funding from the two means above.

Beginning in 2023, the Chrome Cash program expansion takes the place of the APHA Regional Championship shows to reward even more exhibitors with cash and to provide incentive for APHA involvement and registration.
