APHA Breeders’ Trust and Breeders’ Futurity classes pay big at 2020 World Show

The APHA Breeders’ Trust Pleasure Stakes and Breeders’ Futurity classes award huge payouts annually at the APHA World Show, and 2020 was no exception. These premier incentive programs for Paint breeders, owners and exhibitors delivered at the 2020 World Show to the tune of more than $406,000!

The pleasure stakes classes alone paid out over $72,000 to Breeders’ Trust-nominated 2- and 3-year-old Paints in four classes. Entries in the Breeders’ Trust Pleasure Stakes classes were up nearly 4% over 2019. The Breeders’ Futurity classes saw a healthy increase of 23.3% over 2019 and paid out a record $333,695. Weanling classes in the Platinum portion of the futurity were up 8.2% over 2019, while the Platinum Non-Pro Yearling classes paid out just under $50,000 in their inaugural year.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue rewarding Breeders’ Trust-nominated horses and their owners financially, even in a year full of global uncertainty,” Director of Advertising & Incentive Programs Matt Arias said. “Proceeds from the new exhibitor sponsorship program helped add additional payout funds to the Gold Breeders’ Futurity this year and helped increase the payout 22.5% over last year. We are already looking forward to the 2021 APHA World Show!”

Even in a challenging year, the APHA World Show, as a whole, saw big increases across the board. Champions were crowned, dreams became a reality and there were lots of reasons to celebrate. Overall, APHA World Show entries were up 12% across all disciplines with 1,536 horses competing at the event—an increase of 18.7% over the (combined) total horses in 2019.

APHA thanks everyone who believed in this show and worked together to make it a success in such an uncertain year.
