September 2021 saw the Paint Alternative Competition Program host its annual World Championship E-Show using the APHA E-Shows platform.
Here’s what happened:
- 59 classes in Open, Youth and Walk-Trot in disciplines, including English and Western performance, ranch, halter and color, barrel racing, in-hand performance, and new additions such as traditional and Western dressage
- 169 entries, 71 exhibitors and 77 horses that represented 12 countries and 21 U.S. states and Canadian provinces
- 44 percent international participants
- 45 world and reserve champions crowned
- Buckles, rosettes and nearly $3,000 in gift cards to the PH Barn Door and State Line Tack were awarded

How it works
Exhibitors practiced the patterns during the month before the entries opened, videoed their runs, uploaded their videos to a platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, and submitted the links with their entries.
Judge Nell Tekampe—an APHA judge who also holds cards for PHBA, NSBA, IBHA, ABRA, PtHA, ApHC, AMHA, USEF, WDAA, ASHA, AQHA, NASMDA and POAC—was charged with evaluating the entries to determine this year’s crop of PAC world champions.
About PAC
The program was launched in 1990 to reward the diversity of the Paint Horse and give them the ability to put the success that they earn outside of APHA-approved classes on their lifetime performance records.
Through this program, Paints can earn PAC “credits” in Western, English and ranch classes as well as events such as dressage, recreational or trail riding, eventing, roping, and 4-H. These credits count for perpetual and year-end awards.
About E-Shows
APHA E-Shows were started in Spring 2020 for exhibitors who do not have APHA shows nearby, want critiques from judges on their favorite events or classes they would like to try, or are just getting back into showing and want a low-stress environment to help them get back into the swing of things. Exhibitors have the choice of more than 30 classes to show in each month where they can compete against people from all over the world on any breed of horse and earn cash, PAC credits, critiques from an APHA certified judge and international bragging rights.
