Returning to the show pen this summer after his first season as a breeding stallion, All Time Vandal seemed to take his resumed role of show horse in stride, leaving his mark once again at the APHA World Championship Show. On September 24, owner Allie Littlefield of Lees Summit, Missouri, saddled up and piloted “Graffiti” to a championship and nearly $4,400 in the Breeders’ Trust Non-Pro 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle Stakes.
Graffiti won the prestigious Breeders’ Trust 2-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle Stakes last year with Laura Spell, along with sweeping a number of other hunter under saddle classes at the show. Certainly, expectations were high for the 2017 sorrel overo stallion’s return to the World Show.
“I was trying not to put too much pressure on myself—people expect things out of you, so I just tried to act like it was any old day,” Allie said. “He’s better, stronger and still has a great mind. He’s a good boy. He’s a great trotter, so slow legged, and has a great mind. My favorite thing is that you have to push every step, so it’s really fun to show him.”
The Breeders’ Trust Stakes class win is a cherry on top of Graffiti’s early success at the 2020 World Show, adding to Top Five placings with Allie in Amateur Junior Hunter Under Saddle and the Non-Pro 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle Sweepstakes; trainer Keith Miller will take the stallion’s reins later in the show, as well.
The Breeders’ Trust Non-Pro 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle Stakes saw seven entries, paying out a total of $10,950 to participants. To be eligible for the elite class, a horse—Regular Registry or Solid Paint-bred—must be enrolled in the Breeders’ Trust program and be nominated to the class in advance of the show. Bred by Sharene Green of Riverside, California, All Time Vandal is by All Time Fancy and out of Charismatic Kate.
