Janna Kimmons of Jefferson, Georgia, understands the love and labor required outside of the arena to build horses from the ground up. Co-owner of Paradise Paints & Quarters with her husband, Barry, Janna appreciates competing at the APHA/WCHA Halter Million to showcase their breeding program.
“It really is an art,” Janna said. “It’s truly a labor of love. I try to breed two to three Paints every year.”
Janna brought a homebred and raised to the 2026 Halter Million: Gritz N Gravy, a 2025 sorrel solid gelding by Prominence (QH) and out of VC Cool E Lady. Owned by Malinda Shipman of Centerburg, Ohio, “Gritz” earned Top 10s in the Gold Yearling Geldings Breeders’ Futurity with Kyle Hughes and in Platinum Non-Pro Yearling Stallions & Geldings Breeder’s Futurity with Malinda Shipman.
Janna appreciates showcasing her horses at events like the Halter Million.
“This is one of the most enjoyable shows,” Janna said. “It’s run exceptionally well, and all the classes pay well and deep. Everyone feels included.”
As a breeder, Janna is committed to introducing new families and exhibitors to the show world.
“It’s about bringing other people into it,” she said. “Because if you don’t have the little people, you’re going to have the same people showing against themselves. You have to keep it alive, too.”
