2026 Racing Committee Priorities

  • Continue exploring options for a Racing Color Bonus Program
  • Continue to evaluate and improve the Stallion Service Auction
  • Propose a rule change regarding eligibility of voting members for Racing Champion ballots
  • Continue to explore secondary market opportunities for Paint speed horses
  • Develop a marketing and public relations strategy for PBRIP

2025 Committee Accomplishments

  • In 2025, APHA recognized 39 individual horses for success on the racetrack.  This was the first year Solid Paint-Bred and Regular Registry categories were combined.   While we experienced near perfect participation in the voting process amongst committee members, our goal is to increase the voting base.
    • NOTE: In 2026, the APHA Racing Committee will consider a change to increase the number of eligible voting APHA Running Champion participants.   Thoughts are to expand the voting base to Paint owners, breeders, trainers and jockeys. More information on this proposal will be circulated soon, please watch for details.
  • Developed a quarterly newsletter emailed to barrel racers and the racing community.
  • 2025 Chrome Buckle PBRIP race entries grew by 40% at the October Pink Buckle Barrel Race, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
  • 2025 APHA World Championship Show noted a 36% increase in PBRIP Barrel Racing Sweepstakes entries.
  • The 2025 APHA World Championship Show/PBRIP Barrel Racing Sweepstakes represented the largest APHA World Show class with 106 entries.
  • Carly Peercy developed a PBRIP tutorial Power Point presentation to be shared with new barrel producers.  This tool will be used in 2026 to facilitate the production of more PBRIP events across the nation.
  • In late 2025, APHA announced a new partnership between PBRIP and the National Barrel Horse Association. In 2026, the collaboration will bring more than $14,000 in PBRIP added money exclusively for Paint Horses to NBHA-produced events nationwide. Ten NBHA events are eligible this year.
