Lone Woolf & Wesley Galyean score Chrome Cash payday en route to 2023 NCHA Futurity victory

It can be lonely at the top, but 2023 NCHA Futurity champions Wesley Galyean and Lone Woolf know the view is simply unparalleled. The pair won the National Cutting Horse Association’s Open Futurity on December 9, 2023, scoring an estimated $318,649 payout plus an additional $6,534 for winning APHA’s Chrome Cash incentive.

APHA offered Chrome Cash incentives in nine divisions at the 2023 NCHA Futurity. The event drew 240 Paints competing for $122,760 in cash exclusively reserved for participating Paint Horses. That’s an increase of more than 7% in entries and a growth of 5.7% in the total Chrome Cash purse over 2022. The 2023 NCHA Futurity is for 3-year-old horses and took place November 13-December 9, 2023, at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Chrome Cash is a sidepot paid to participating APHA horses at select events, offered as a class within a class. Contestants pay an entry fee, which helps fund the jackpot. Regular Registry and Solid Paint-Bred horses are both eligible to participate in Chrome Cash.

Lone Woolf is a 2020 red roan solid stallion sired by APHA stallion Metallic Rebel and out of A Little Reylena (QH). He was bred and is owned by Billy Wolf of Whitesboro, Texas.
