APHA welcomes Summer 2026 interns

Summer 2026 Interns

As summer begins to settle into the Stockyards, the Summer 2026 APHA interns have arrived! APHA is excited to teach the next generation about the innerworkings of the world’s second-largest equine breed association. These interns—Jordan Mueller, Jacie Pennington, Camey Powers and Dalton Regehr (pictured above, l to r)—bring their valuable experience from a variety of backgrounds to engage in tasks crucial to the running of the organization. They will develop skills and make meaningful connections, while also having the opportunity to assist behind-the-scenes of the 2026 APHA World Championship Show.

Meet the 2026 Interns

Camey Powers

Competition & Events Intern (Youth Focus)

Camey is a woman in charge: strong, independent and confident. Hailing from Granbury, Texas, Camey grew up raising, breeding and showing Paints.

“I think it’s because of a certain creativity,” Camey said about what drew her family to Paint Horses. “We like [things] that are different and exciting.”

A senior at Texas A&M University, Camey is studying animal science and plans to pursue graduate work after completing her undergraduate degree. When she is not riding, Camey enjoys challenging herself in the gym, on the ski slope or in the Pilates studio.

In the past, Camey has run camps where she taught youth with no previous horse experience how to ride. Her love for working with children and developing the next generation shines through, and her strong work ethic and background make Camey a strong addition to APHA this summer.

Dalton Regehr

Competition & Events Intern (Awards Focus)

Dalton brings a variety of equine experiences, a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor to APHA’s intern team. Originally from Northeast Kansas, Dalton is a senior at Texas A&M University, majoring in animal science, minoring in economics and pursuing a certificate in equine science. After growing up showing horses, Dalton joined his collegiate judging and ranch horse teams, where he continued to develop his knowledge.

This summer, he is most excited to meet others who share his passion. He is looking forward to learning more about the industry and animals he loves.

Jacie Pennington

Multimedia Marketing Intern

Hailing from Paradise, Texas, Jacie brings experience with both private ad agencies and other breed associations to her role this summer. When not interning, Jacie runs her own small business selling turquoise and silver jewelry. Currently, she is a senior at West Texas A&M University majoring in agricultural communications and media.

Jacie firmly believes that a stranger is just a friend she has not made yet. Her warm presence and outgoing nature help Jacie make everyone feel welcome.

Jacie chose APHA because of the high standard and quality of media its team produces. She seeks to learn from APHA’s experts and continue to develop her skills.

Jordan Mueller

Editorial & Publications Intern

Jordan is a creative soul. She will graduate in December 2026 from Baylor University, where she studies marketing and international business. As a published poet and short story writer, Jordan brings literary experience from a variety of disciplines. Always open for an adventure, Jordan is driven by “curiosity, creativity and connection.”

She looks forward to contributing to APHA’s publications and gaining a deeper understanding of the association.

In her free time, Jordan runs a small art-jacket business, rides horses, paints and competes on her college’s rowing team.
