Paynt Points: A New Incentive Program for Youth and Amateurs - APHA: American Paint Horse Association

Paynt Points

Launching January 1, 2025, Paynt Points is a competition incentive program that directly rewards Youth and Amateur exhibitors for earning points in APHA-approved shows. All APHA Amateur, Youth, Novice and Walk-Trot points earned will automatically generate twice-a-year payouts to the horse owner/lessee at the time the points were earned.

About the Program

Twice-a-year rewards for every Youth, Amateur, Novice & Walk-Trot point earned at APHA-approved shows!

Why Paynt Points?

  • Incentivizes owning, breeding & showing Paint Horses
  • Stimulates APHA shows
  • A bold strategy to reverse a 20-year market-wide decline in traditional show participation

APHA is the only breed association investing in a program that pays exhibitors back for participation at its shows!

Annual Purse Calculation

(APHA-Added Money)+(Total APHA Entries x $2) = Paynt Points Total Purse

Estimated $500,000 added by APHA each year

Exhibitors pay a $2/entry fee—100% goes into the Paynt Points purse and is paid back to Youth, Amateur, Novice and Walk-Trot exhibitors.

Estimated payout: $10+ per point

Who Gets Paid?

Every Youth, Amateur, Novice and Walk-Trot point will pay!

  • Participation is automatic.
  • Points earned in Youth, Amateur, Novice and Walk-Trot division classes at APHA-approved shows count (including regional shows, World Show, Halter Million & National Championships).
  • Twice-a-year payouts to the horse owner/lessee at the time the points were earned
  • Approximately 80% of horses at APHA shows enter Youth and/or Amateur classes—this rewards our largest segment of exhibitors!
    • Nearly 70% of those typically earn points and will earn Paynt Points payouts.
  • The Open division isn’t currently included, but we’re hopeful to add it in the future!

Minimal Investment = Big Rewards!
