A familiar face around horse shows, Delena Doyle of Stephenville, Texas, has been an APHA judge since 1987. She’s also carded with ApHC, ABRA, AQHA, NRCHA, NSBA, PtHA and PHBA.
Beyond the horse show realm, Delena is a graduate of Texas Tech University and has a master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. She spent over 30 years as an administrator for the Fort Worth Independent School District.
What do you like best about judging?
I love the people. We horse people share a common passion for horses and the Western way of life. I love the horses. Paints are fascinating because no two are alike. I have been blessed to see some of the best Paints in the world and thrilled by flawless performances in show events. What more could a horse lover ask for?
What’s your best advice for young judges?
Never forget you are a representative of the largest breeds of horses in the world. That honor comes with great responsibility to the association, the animals, the exhibitors and to yourself.

Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) from Yellowstone.

My favorite movie is the 1955 Giant; my favorite television series currently is Landman.
