Chrome Cash purses exceed $1.6M in 2025
Another year in the books, and APHA’s innovative Chrome Cash program again set records for total payouts and participation in 2025. This year, Chrome Cash payouts exceeded $1.6 million for Paints in select events around the world.
In 2025, Chrome Cash purses totaled $1,601,958 and drew 4,861 entries. That represents growth of 17% (purses) over the previous year. Figures include performance-event Chrome Cash purses/entries, plus figures for the traditional all-around show Chrome Cash Matching Funds program. Paint Horses won the 2025 NCHA Futurity, NRHA Futurity, NRHA European Derby and more. For the first time, Chrome Cash expanded to include ranch sorting, too.
Chrome Cash rewards high-performing Paint Horses with exclusive sidepot payouts. Events primarily take place at Western performance horse events offered by the National Cutting Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association, American Rope Horse Futurity Association, Stock Horse of Texas and Ranch Horse National Championship. APHA provides some direct funding for participating international and traditional all-around events. Performance horse Chrome Cash events, however, are fully self-funded from sponsors and participating horses’ entry fees.
“We are extremely grateful to the show producers, secretaries and sponsors who recognize the value of Chrome Cash, as well as the owners and riders who choose to compete aboard APHA horses,” Sr. Director of Chrome Cash Sunny Bates said. “Their support is the foundation of the program’s success and continued growth. Thanks to these partnerships, Chrome Cash grew by 17% in total purses in 2025, awarding more than $1.6 million to talented Paint Horses. We look forward to expanding Chrome Cash even more in the future.”
