Chrome & Paint Horse Journal win 2025 AHP Equine Media Awards

APHA’s official publications, Chrome and the Paint Horse Journal, were honored for outstanding content at the 2025 American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards contest May 17, 2025. The flagship publications won a variety of awards for editorial content, graphic design and cover art—including two first-place awards—and Chrome was also runner-up in the General Excellence category for magazines with circulation over 20,000.

2025 AHP Equine Media Honors

The annual AHP Equine Media Awards contest recognizes outstanding content from the previous year, spanning print and digital media, photography, videography and more. This year’s contest generated 425 entries; winners were announced during the AHP Equine Media Conference in Dallas, Texas. APHA’s accolades include:

  • Champion, Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Service to the Consumer Single Article: “The Ins & Outs of ICSI,” Spring 2024 Paint Horse Journal, written by Abigail Boatwright
  • Champion, Equestrian Lifestyle Journalism Article: “Sentimental Journey,” Spring 2024 Chrome, written by L.A. Berry
  • Second, Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Cover Page Design: Summer 2024 Paint Horse Journal, designed by Jody Johnson
  • Third, Human-Animal Bond Article: “Blue Thunder: A Unicorn Story,” Fall 2024 Chrome, written by Jessica Hein
  • Honorable Mention, Personal Column Single Article: “Home Place — Life-Defining Moments,” Winter 2024 Chrome, written by Jessica Hein
  • Honorable Mention, Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Editorial Design: “Grit Over Glam,” Fall 2024 Chrome, designed by Ron Bonge
  • Honorable Mention, General Excellence Print Publication circulation over 20,000: Chrome
