Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering wins 2025 Best of Western Horseman Runner-Up
The Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering was named 2025 Best of Western Horseman Runner-Up in the contest’s Best of Culture – Events category. This prestigious recognition highlights exceptional individuals and companies making a lasting impact on the Western industry.
Red Steagall launched his Cowboy Gathering in 1991 to preserve Western heritage and celebrate authentic cowboy traditions. APHA’s Marked For Greatness Properties LLC now produces the event, which takes over the Fort Worth Stockyards during the last weekend of October. The Gathering transforms the district into a hub of Western culture and action, featuring ranch rodeos, chuck wagon cook-offs, a youth fiddle contest, cowboy music and poetry, a Western swing festival and dance, and a full slate of hands-on Western experiences.
The 2025 Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering drew more than 5,600 ticket holders and introduced more than 100,000 Stockyards visitors from around the world to authentic Western traditions throughout the weekend. The 2025 event showcased 14 ranch rodeo teams from across Texas competing for more than $21,000 in prize money; 16 chuck wagon teams vying for $4,500 in cash awards; and 22 youth fiddlers earning scholarships through spirited competition.
Earlier this year, the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering earned the honor of Best Cowboy Music Gathering by True West magazine, as well.
“It’s an honor to play a small role in the incredible team that makes this event weekend possible and keeps the spirit of authentic Western heritage alive,” said Kathryn Allen, senior manager of Marked for Greatness Properties LLC. “Upholding the legacy that Red built is a responsibility we’re proud to carry, and being recognized for our contribution to Western culture is deeply meaningful.”
