AjPHA members Colten Dulin of Nampa, Idaho; Hallie Carter of Florence, Alabama; and Addison Cerasale of St. Augustine, Florida, claimed victory in the 2025 Youth Futurity Project.
The Youth Futurity Project teaches Youth how to raise and train horses. The project is open to all Youth members and all breeds of horses, and there are additional incentives for top-performing Paints. No ownership requirements are in place, but only the participating Youth member may train the horse after March 1 of the current show year.
“This win means a lot, especially because I did all of the work myself,” Addison said; she showed Kiss My Lazy A in the 3-Year-Old division. “It’s about making a bond and making sure [your horse] trusts you.”
New for 2025 was a 3-year-old horse category, complementing the yearling and 2-year-old divisions. Each division offered three classes at the 2025 APHA World Championship Show. Competitors also completed a logbook documenting their training efforts and the progress made by their horse, as well as a video summary of the project.
“It means the world to me,” Colten said. “I won with my colt last year, and I’m super happy I won with [Kung Fu Panda] this year. I’m excited for the opportunities I’ve been given, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with the other Youth.”
Congratulations to all Youth Futurity Project participants!
