Paint Horse Journal & Chrome earn championship honors for equine media excellence

APHA’s premier publications, the Paint Horse Journal and Chrome magazine, won championship honors at the 2024 American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards contest. The event took place May 18 in Lexington, Kentucky.

In addition to three championships and one reserve championship earned by the publications, the Paint Horse Journal was named runner-up in the overall “General Excellence” category for large equine publications. This award showcases the quality of the entire publication, including writing, design and more.

Paint Horse Journal and Chrome took home the following equine media honors:

  • Champion, Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Service to the Consumer Single Article: “Under Fire,” Spring 2023 Paint Horse Journal, written by Jessica Hein
  • Champion, Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Cover Page Design: Spring 2023 Paint Horse Journal, designed by Jody Johnson
  • Champion, Freelance Writer Feature Single Article: “California Cowgirl,” Fall 2023 Chrome, written by Amy Witt
  • Reserve Champion, Instructional Single Article: “Buying Blind,” Fall 2023 Paint Horse Journal, written by Jessica Hein
  • Honorable Mention, Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Editorial Design: “The Queen of Fabric,” Fall 2023 Chrome, designed by Jana Thomason
  • Honorable Mention, General Excellence Print Publication Circulation Over 20,000: Paint Horse Journal

 

Equine Media Excellence

American Horse Publications is the professional organization for all forms of equine media. Their annual awards contest celebrates excellence in writing, design, photography, multimedia, advertising and more.

APHA’s publications are distributed as a benefit of APHA membership. Chrome is also the official publication of Mule Alley in the Fort Worth Stockyards and distributed throughout the historic district.
