8 Paints earn exclusive Chrome Cash payouts at 2023 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity

More than $7,000 was exclusively up for grabs for Paint Horses competing at the 2023 National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity, thanks to APHA’s Chrome Cash program.

Taking place October 6-21, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, the Snaffle Bit Futurity featured Chrome Cash payouts in the Open, Non-Pro and Non-Pro Boxing divisions. A class within a class, the Chrome Cash payouts were based on preliminary round placings. Entry fees were bolstered by $3,500 added by Chrome Cash sponsor Covered By Cori Equine & Cattle Insurance.

Congratulations to the following:

Open Chrome Cash: $3,700 total purse

  • Champion: San In My Shorts, ridden by Clayton M. Edsall for owner Diamond 4D Performance Horses LLC took home $1,480 of the Chrome Cash payout.
  • Reserve: The Cash Train, ridden by Clayton M. Edsall and owned by Beverly Servi claimed $1,110 of the Chrome Cash purse.
  • 3rd: Hip Hip Rebel Rey, ridden by Cayley Wilson and owned by Kathy Gentry earned $740 of the Chrome Cash purse.
  • 4th: Rebel Forces, shown by Brandon Buttars for owner Sophia Flinders Buttars took home $370 of the Chrome Cash purse.

The Open Snaffle Bit Futurity finals take place October 21.

Non-Pro Chrome Cash: $1,600 total purse

  • Champion: Rebelate, ridden by Kyle J. Birkenfeld and owned by Keith Birkenfeld, earning $960 of the Chrome Cash purse.
    • This pair was 13th in the clean-slate finals, winning $2,500 more in the Non-Pro finals.
  • Reserve: Too Hottish Tohandle, ridden and owned by Amy Leonard ($640)
    • They were 9th in the finals, earning another $4,500 in the Non-Pro finals.

Non-Pro Boxing Chrome Cash: $1,800 total purse

  • Champion: Josslynnn, ridden and owned by Lucinda Rose David taking home $1,080 of the Chrome Cash purse.
    • This team was reserve champions in the Non-Pro Boxing finals, snagging another $6,500.
  • Reserve: Smooth Talkin Atmas, ridden and owned by Becky Stockett won $720 of the Chrome Cash purse.
    • They ended up 8th in the finals, taking home an NRCHA check for $1,138, too.
