E-Shows
Welcome to APHA E-Shows, our online show experience! These are all-breed, virtual horse shows where you can compete from your home. Just film your performance based on the outlined criteria, submit your video and our judges will take it from there.
Whether you are preparing for an upcoming event or just want to see how your skills stack up against the competition, APHA’s E-Shows are the perfect tool to help you sharpen your performance!

Check out our virtual E-Show schedule below. Patterns and entry forms are posted on the “Open” day, and entries close at 5 p.m. CST on the “Close” day. Your entry submission includes exhibitor/horse details, class selection and payment, and video links.

- Pay $25 dollars to enter each class and the optional $25 for a judge’s critique of your performance. Critiques include private, constructive, detailed feedback from an APHA-approved judge, no matter how you place—a great learning tool!
- Every E-Shows class features a jackpotted payout to top-placing exhibitors, depending on total class entries.
- All breeds of horses are welcome. APHA membership is NOT required to participate!

Download the patterns and video specifications linked to each class name, practice and videotape your go, then return here to submit your entry form and videos. After judging is complete, you’ll receive an email with detailed feedback on your performance (if critique was selected) and a check if you place in the payout!

- All classes are judged according to the current APHA Rule Book.
- Tack and attire must meet requirements outlined in the APHA Rule Book; illegal equipment is grounds for disqualification. Neat and clean presentation takes precedence over “bling.”
- In all Western classes, exhibitor should wear a Western hat and cowboy boots, a long-sleeve collared shirt, and ankle-length or longer pants (slacks, trousers, jeans, etc.). A shirt, blouse or showmanship-type jacket with long sleeves and a collar (band, standup, tuxedo, etc.) is acceptable. A vest accompanied with a long-sleeve collared shirt or blouse, aor a jacket with a collared shirt is acceptable. The use of spurs, chaps, belts and hard hats are optional. Exhibitors wearing attire that has been deemed inappropriate by the judge will receive no score; their entry will roll over to the next E-Show.

- In all English classes, rider should wear a long-sleeved collared shirt and breeches. Breeches (or jodhpurs) are to be of traditional shades of buff, khaki, canary, light gray or rust, with tall English boots or paddock (jodhpur) boots of black or brown. A black, navy blue or brown hard hat (with harness if jumping) is mandatory. A hunt coat in a traditional color (navy, dark green, gray, black or brown) are optional; red or maroon coats are not permitted. Use of a tie or choker, gloves, half chaps, un-rowlled spurs (no longer than one inch) or a crop/bat is optional. Hair must be neat and contained. Exhibitors wearing attire that has been deemed inappropriate by the judge will receive no score; their entry will roll over to the next E-Show.

- APHA E-Shows DOES ALLOW crossover in entry from any Walk-Trot class to any loping classes during the same E-Show.
- APHA E-Shows DOES ALLOW crossover between ranch classes and the corresponding Western performance or English class during the same E-Show (i.e. ranch cutting and cutting, ranch trail and trail, ranch riding/ranch rail pleasure and Western pleasure/hunter under saddle, ranch reining and reining).
- Follow the posted pattern/format and filming guidelines for your class. Failure to do so is grounds for disqualification.
- Videos must show a continuous shot, and clips may not be edited together.
- Each video should include only one entry for a single class.
- Video entries must be taped during the posted show dates and submitted by the posted deadline. Failure to do so is grounds for disqualification.
- Videos must be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive or a similar video hosting site that creates a PUBLICLY viewable link. You’ll include that link on your entry form submission.
- The judge’s decision is final.
High-Point Awards
A $100 PH Barn Door gift card is awarded to the highest all-around point-earning exhibitor at each E-Show. You must enter at least three classes to be eligible; multiple horses may be shown.
Ties are broken by the exhibitor who entered fewer classes.
Class Payout
All class entry fees are jackpotted—$10 from each class entry goes into the purse. Example: 10 entries in a class = $100 purse.
