Gunner Scotch On Ice wins SHTX high-placing Paint award

Stock Horse of Texas honored Gunner Scotch On Ice as its high-placing Paint Horse for 2024. The award is presented jointly by APHA and Stock Horse of Texas in an effort to recognize top Paint Horses in Stock Horse of Texas competition and add value for participating members and their horses.

Gunner Scotch On Ice is a 2016 red roan solid gelding by Gunner Is On Ice and out of TRF Hot Misti Spring. Karen Barksdale of Marble Falls, Texas, owns the gelding. He was shown by Sienna Gonczeruk in Stock Horse of Texas competition. The organization honored the Paint at its annual year-end champion banquet, taking place March 8 in Bryan, Texas.

Also honored at the Stock Horse of Texas banquet were its 2024 year-end champion and reserve winners. They included Junior Reserve Champion Tagging It, a 2019 red roan overo gelding by Metallic Cat (QH) and out of Dual Rey Tag (QH), owned and shown by Bruce Logan of Granbury, Texas.

In addition to recognizing the high-point Paint Horse each year, Stock Horse of Texas also offers APHA’s Chrome Cash program at its World Finals. The incentive program is run as a class within a class, and rewards participating Paints with added-money sidepots based on top placings.
