Reagan Hoelscher & Amy Olson join APHA team

Two new staff members have joined the APHA family: Director of Youth & Amateur Activities Reagan Hoelscher and Publications Ad Sales & Sponsor Manager Amy Olson.

Reagan Hoelscher

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Reagan has a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a certificate in equine science. Reagan grew up competing in 4-H and junior high-school rodeo; in college, she was a TAMU animal science and equine ambassador and was a decorated member of her collegiate horse judging team. The horsewoman spent two years working as a ring steward and clinician, and helped produce the TAMU Horse Beginnings Kids Camp since 2021. In summer 2024, Reagan was a competition-focus intern for APHA, working closely with the association’s Youth, Amateur and awards programs.

The Youth and Amateur director oversees the strategic direction and initiatives aimed at fostering growth, education and community among APHA’s Youth and Amateur members. Reagan’s hands-on experience in equine education, program coordination and event management will help her excel in advancing the APHA and AjPHA missions.

“Reagan’s passion for education and leadership are contagious,” APHA CEO David Dellin said. “We are very excited to see how she grows our Youth and Amateur programs in the years to come. Reagan is a great addition to the APHA team, and she brings exciting energy to those programs.”

Amy Olson

Amy brings an extensive equine background to her position at APHA, with experience in breeding, training, sales and competition. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Amy has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications and a minor in agricultural economics. Most recently, Amy was a digital editor for Quarter Horse News; there, she curated content for various digital media platforms and worked closely with her sales team to attract and serve both new and existing customers. Amy was a communications and marketing intern for APHA in 2022 and retail sales associate for the PH Barn Door store.

The publications ad sales and sponsor manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through print and digital advertising, additional value-added opportunities and fulfillment of sponsor benefits. Amy’s extensive experience and contacts in the horse industry, combined with her effective communication and marketing skills, will prove vital in her new role.

“We are excited to have Amy joining our team at APHA,” Director of Business Development Kurt Crawford said. “With previous work in many different areas of the equine industry, plus experience in advertising and advertising sales, Amy is equipped with essential industry knowledge on all levels. She brings several contacts that will help with advertising and sponsorships, and we are glad she has chosen to return to our team.”
