Our 2019 Move to the Stockyards

In this section of LeaderCare, we will be updating you weekly on what is going on with our relocation to the Stockyards Historic District.
Did you know that you can endow a specific Youth World Show class forever by making a $45,000 gift to our Youth World Show Endowment? The base scholarship for every World Championship Class is $1,300, which distributes $500 in scholarship earnings for first place, $400 for second place, $250 for third place and $150 for a randomly drawn name in each class. So while your gift goes into the big endowment, the interest on the gift can be earmarked for the four scholarships for a specific class on a first-come, first serve basis. It’s a great way to memorialize a loved one, a favorite horse or ranch in perpetuity. Interested in endowments for more than one class? Just multiple each class by $45,000. Perfect for a 2017 tax writeoff. For more information, contact APHF Director Laura Jesberg or make a gift via our Capital Campaign Gift Form. (link is http://apha.com/foundation/capital-campaign/donation-form/)

A special note: Effective January 1st, 2018:
Rule YP-075.A.1. Youth Age Divisions.

  1. If One Age Division is Offered. If one age division is offered it should be held for eighteen (18) years and younger. In addition, it is required that a minimum of five (5) classes be offered as 13 and Under and these five (5) classes cannot be combined. A 13 and Under exhibitor may choose which division to compete on a per class basis but cannot exhibit in both divisions in the same class.
  2. EXCEPTION: In Zones 12,13, and 14 the minimum five (5) 13 and Under classes are not required.
  3. If Two Age Divisions are Offered. If two age divisions are offered it should be for thirteen (13) years and younger and eighteen (18) years and younger. In addition, it is required that a minimum of five (5) classes be offered as 13 and Under and these five (5) classes cannot be combined. A 13 and Under exhibitor may choose which division to compete on a per class basis but cannot exhibit in both divisions in the same class. Se SC-185.D.
  4. EXCEPTION: In Zones 12,13, and 14 the minimum five (5) 13 and Under classes are not required.
  5. If Solid Paint-Bred/Breeding Stock Performance Category Classes are offered. One age division should be offered and held for eighteen (18) years and younger. Exception: Solid Paint-Bred/Breeding Stock Youth Showmanship, may be divided into age groups (13 and under and 18 and under).

This rule eliminates the 14-18 youth class division. The new age divisions offered are either 13 & Under and/or 18 & Under.
All shows will now be required to hold at least 5 classes for 13 & Under that are unable to be combined, regardless of the number of entries. This gives the 13 & Under exhibitor the choice of showing with a more experienced, all-age youth class or with their 13 & Under peers.
For Year End Award purposes, the awards will still be split based on the age of the exhibitor: 14-18 and 13 & Under.
Offering SPB classes as class within a class per Rule Sc-325.A.1.b.
