Our Move to the Stockyards
In this section of LeaderCare, we will be updating you weekly on what is going on with our relocation to the Stockyards Historic District.
If you are attending Convention and would like to take a tour of the Fort Worth Stockyards and see exactly where APHA’s new office will be, we can make that happen. Staffers will be available on Thursday before Convention starts as well as Monday after the business meeting to give you a tour. Transportation will depend on how many are interested. If you haven’t registered yet, there is a place on the registration form to indicate which day you might like to go. If you have already registered, simply contact Theresa Brown by email or phone and let her know what day works best for you. Once we know how many people are interested, we’ll send out additional information.
Show Management Corner
A special note: Effective January 1st, 2018:
Rule YP-075.A.1. Youth Age Divisions.
- If One Age Division is Offered. If one age division is offered it should be held for eighteen (18) years and younger. In addition, it is required that a minimum of five (5) classes be offered as 13 and Under and these five (5) classes cannot be combined. A 13 and Under exhibitor may choose which division to compete on a per class basis but cannot exhibit in both divisions in the same class.
- EXCEPTION: In Zones 12,13, and 14 the minimum five (5) 13 and Under classes are not required.
- If Two Age Divisions are Offered. If two age divisions are offered it should be for thirteen (13) years and younger and eighteen (18) years and younger. In addition, it is required that a minimum of five (5) classes be offered as 13 and Under and these five (5) classes cannot be combined. A 13 and Under exhibitor may choose which division to compete on a per class basis but cannot exhibit in both divisions in the same class. Se SC-185.D.
- EXCEPTION: In Zones 12,13, and 14 the minimum five (5) 13 and Under classes are not required.
- If Solid Paint-Bred/Breeding Stock Performance Category Classes are offered. One age division should be offered and held for eighteen (18) years and younger. Exception: Solid Paint-Bred/Breeding Stock Youth Showmanship, may be divided into age groups (13 and under and 18 and under).
This rule eliminates the 14-18 youth class division. The new age divisions offered are either 13 & Under and/or 18 & Under.
All shows will now be required to hold at least 5 classes for 13 & Under that are unable to be combined, regardless of the number of entries. This gives the 13 & Under exhibitor the choice of showing with a more experienced, all-age youth class or with their 13 & Under peers.
For Year End Award purposes, the awards will still be split based on the age of the exhibitor: 14-18 and 13 & Under.
Offering SPB classes as class within a class per Rule Sc-325.A.1.b.
