Our Move to the Stockyards

In this section of LeaderCare, we will be updating you weekly on what is going on with our relocation to the Stockyards Historic District.
When APHA opens the doors to its new office/retail store/museum in early 2019, our General Store will become the third so named in the Stockyards. While we adore the long-time name of APHA’s online store, we don’t want to get lost among the existing “General Stores,” so a new name is needed. One of the existing stores—the General Store—established in 1983 and located on Exchange Avenue, showcases Texas- & Western-themed apparel, souvenirs, treats & novelties. The other—the Longhorn General Store—is also located on Exchange Avenue and features Texas treats like Blue Bell Ice Cream and Dublin Dr. Pepper, as well as Texas t-shirts, personalized collectibles, Cowboy ropes, spurs and more.
We want to be a respectful new neighbor to existing retail shops in the Stockyards, and we also need a name for our shop that better describes what our store will carry. So we are soliciting new names for the APHA store. Keep in mind that as a retail store within a very popular tourist area, we will be carrying more than just APHA gear. We will have a lot of Paint Horse-themed merchandise as well as a “Legacy of Color” line. People who have a selfie taken in front of our bronzes might also want to take home a t-shirt or replica as well. Get creative and send your suggestions to Laura Jesberg by December 31, 2017.
