2022 APHA Convention is here!

A mix of live and Zoom-based virtual events will make up the 2022 APHA Convention and APHA’s 60th Anniversary celebration in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

STATE DIRECTORS, TAKE NOTE: the General Membership Meetings, as well as voting on Board of Director candidates, take place in person on February 26-27 in Fort Worth. Voting on rule change proposals will be web-based, but only those directors present at the live meetings will be eligible to vote.

Horse Community Symposium

APHA state directors and members will join panelists representing the broader horse association community to discuss the current and future state of the equestrian community. This unique symposium will also offer Convention attendees the opportunity to quiz symposium speakers in a unique panel format.

2023 Distinguished Service Award nominees sought

The Distinguished Service Award honors an outstanding APHA member each year. Recipients are selected in recognition of their long-term commitment and contributions to the association and the breed at the regional, state or national level. The association is now accepting nominations of individuals worthy of receiving this honor from any APHA member. To nominate a candidate, submit a written description of the projects the nominee has worked on and verification that the person meets the award’s eligibility requirements. These requirements include:

  • APHA member in good standing for a minimum of 15 years.

  • Must own, or have previously owned, a Paint Horse.

  • Involvement in regional association leadership.

  • Service as a regional officer, director or committee member.

  • Must have made a major contribution to a regional, state or national

    activity.

  • Cannot be an APHA past president.

Verbal nominations will not be accepted. The APHA Distinguished Service Award Selection Committee is comprised of the three most recent past presidents.

Tentative schedule for 2021 rule revision proposals

February 26-27, 2022 – APHA Convention General Membership meetings. All rule revision proposals to be reviewed and amended; then voted on – passed or defeated.

March 1, 2022 – Publish all rule revision proposals passed by the voting state directors on website.

January 1, 2023 – Rules passed at 2022 Convention become effective.


Renewal Deadline for

Regional Clubs is March 1, 2022

Article VII, Section 7.4: Once a charter is granted to a Regional Association/Club, it is automatically renewed yearly provided the Regional Association/Club continues to meet specific requirements and demonstrates a minimal level of activity.

A. Specific requirements and activity levels shall include but are not limited to the following:

a) Maintain a membership of twenty (20) members, ten (10) of whom are members of the APHA;

b) Regional Association/Club Officers and the Board of Directors shall be required to carry a current APHA membership during the term of their office.

c) Submit a list of members electronically in the format specified by APHA, a copy of the Regional Association/Club Bylaws and the previous year’s annual financial statement, which includes a listing of all income and expenditures, by March 1st of each year; and

d) Provide a minimum of two (2) Regional Association/Club approved or sponsored shows or trail rides or APHA-approved horse or specialty shows, participate in a parade or an equine-related trade show booth, or host a Paint For A Day or other APHA-approved program activity per year. Earn $20,000 from APHA as a 2022 Chrome Cash

All-Around Event Host Show

Want to earn $20,000 in added money for your show? APHA is looking for a deserving event to offer its Chrome Cash All-Around Program in 2022—if your show meets the criteria below, apply today and it could be you! Applications are due by February 28, 2022.

APHA will award $20,000 in added money to be paid out as Chrome Cash sidepots to one additional selected show in 2022. The A Sudden Impulse NSBA Show & Futurity, taking place April 21-30 in Ocala, Florida, is already slated as a 2022 participating event for the Chrome Cash All-Around program.

To be considered for the Chrome Cash all-around event and $20,000 added by APHA, the event must be multi-discipline with a minimum of $25,000 added overall. By partnering with existing destination events, the goal of the program is to bring APHA incentives closer to regional exhibitors at events across the country. The Chrome Cash program is a class-within-a-class format in which only registered APHA horses are eligible for exclusive payouts.
