Equestrian community leaders discuss the future at 2022 APHA Convention

APHA state directors and members will join panelists representing the broader horse association community to discuss the current and future state of the equestrian community. This unique symposium will also offer Convention attendees the opportunity to quiz symposium speakers in a unique panel format.

Horse Community Symposium
Saturday, February 26, approximately 2-5 p.m.
Legacy Hall, Hotel Drover
Fort Worth Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas

Panelists

  • Gary Carpenter, commissioner of the National Reining Horse Association
  • Craig Huffines, Colorado State University director of equine sciences and elite bovine & equine genetics and former executive vice president of the American Quarter Horse Association
  • Tom O’Mara, president of the United States Equestrian Federation
  • Dr. Anna Morrison, executive director of the National Reined Cow Horse Association
  • Jay Winborn, executive director of the National Cutting Horse Association

“This is one of those rare occasions where the leadership of the horse community is all in one place and talking about the future and security of that community of horse owners, breeders and competitors,” said APHA Executive Director Billy Smith.
Afterward, join APHA for a party at the APHA International Headquarters, next door to Hotel Drover. Meet the Board of Director candidates, the symposium panelists and other stock-horse community leaders.
And don’t miss the 2022 APHA Convention Welcome Party Friday, February 25 at 6:30 p.m., also taking place at Legacy Hall in Hotel Drover.
The symposium is a part of APHA’s 60th anniversary Convention celebration, two-days marked by gatherings, elections on new Board of Director members and rule change proposals.

    Director of MemberCare

Freddie joined APHA in 2015 as part of the MemberCare team. You’ve likely experienced his calm, collected nature on the phone or at the World Show I.D. station. That demeanor should come as no surprise since he was in law enforcement for over 22 years prior to coming to APHA. He was recently named Director of MemberCare and looks forward to continuing to serve members through this leadership role. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family as well as riding and training roping horses.
