Fun abounds with 2025 World Show Youth Events

Whether you crave competition or just want to make lasting memories with your friends, saddle up for our 2025 World Show Youth events. From horse-judging and knowledge-based competitions to fun parties, friendship bracelets and more, we’ve got something to appeal to every Youth at the 2025 APHA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas. Special Youth-focused events take pace June 20–25, though horse-based world championship competition in the arena continues through the entire World Show.

2025 World Show Youth Events

  • Youth Team Tournament: June 20

    • APHA brings fun and camaraderie to the APHA World Championship Show with our unique Youth Team Tournament—no horse required! This three-part competitive series tests teamwork skills, equine knowledge and competitive drive. It’s open to Youth ages 10–18; enter by June 15 and learn more here.
  • Youth Scholarship Workshop: June 20

    • Learn about Youth scholarships offered by the American Paint Horse Foundation, and how to apply. This free workshop takes place in the Centennial Room/Taco Heads in the Moncrief Building. It’s perfect for Youth and parents.
  • horseIQ Youth World Championship Judging Contest: June 21

    • Aspiring judges showcase their skills in this annual contest, where they evaluate halter and performance classes for conformation, movement and class standards. Click to learn more! 
  • Youth Stick Horse competition: June 21

    • Saddle up, partner, for this annual fun-filled event, offered exclusively for buckaroos age 7 and under. Enter your favorite stick-horse team in the Horse Show Office before the class.
  • Make Your Own Friendship Bracelet: June 21

    • Join the PH Barn Door crew to craft a keepsake bracelet for yourself or a friend.
  • Ice Cream Party: June 21

    • Sweet treats abound in this free afternoon cool-down, taking place on the John Justin Arena concourse.
  • Youth Futurity Project competition: June 21–24

    • Youth horsemen and -women will showcase their training skills with yearling, 2-year-old and 3-year-old horses they’ve trained themselves. Classes include fitting & handling, longe line, in-hand or ridden trail, rail and versatility pattern classes. Cheer them on at the culminating competitions, taking place in conjunction with the APHA World Championship Show. Details here.
  • Interscholastic Equestrian Association Western National Finals: June 21-23

    • Cheer on fellow young riders as the top IEA Western riders contend for national championships in the Watt Arena. Want to help? Donate your horse to be used in their competition (email Tammy.Braham@rideiea.org for more details).
  • horseIQ Youth Showdown: June 22

    • Show off your horse knowledge at the new horseIQ Youth Showdown, featuring hippology, hands-on skills and public speaking contests in Youth 8–13 and Youth 14–18 divisions! Great prizes await, including scholarships for the top Three Youth 14–18 winners. Enter by June 20—learn more here.
  • Championship Dog Race: June 23

    • Got the speediest pooch in the West? Bring your pup and a friend to the John Justin Arena for our Championship Dog Race. Enter in the Horse Show Office for a shot at great prizes!
  • Youth Boot Scramble: June 23

    • Make a mad dash to find your missing boots in the Watt Arena—the fastest finders win great prizes in this free event!
  • AjPHA National Convention: General Membership Meeting: June 23

    • Join your fellow AjPHA members for our Youth membership meeting, where you’ll hear from officer nominees and more. This takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Moncrief Building’s Centennial Room/Taco Heads room.
  • Youth Lead Line competition: June 25

    • Young riders show off their saddle skills in this special world championship class, open to Youth age 3–8. Pre-entry by 5 p.m. on June 24 is required, along with use of a Paint Horse.
  • APHA Youth & Amateur Celebration: June 25

    • Mix and mingle with peers, as we gather at 7:30 p.m. in the Round Up Inn to showcase our 2024 year-end award winners. Amateur cocktail hour starts at 6:30 p.m., and a dance follows the celebration.
