Streaking Ahead

Morgan Breaux and SS Streakers R Us have been on fire this spring. Finishing in the money at rodeos from Texas to California, the second-year WPRA cowgirl and “Streaker” have solidified their partnership and are making a statement. Finishing in the money at the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo, the Marshall Pro Rodeo, the Rio Grande Livestock Show & Rodeo, RodeoAustin and the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Morgan sits in the Top 20 of the WPRA standings with $22,394.84 in earnings as of April 18.

Streaker, a 2002 brown solid gelding by Scenics Symbol and out of The Sixth Sense (QH), previously competed at the National Finals Rodeo with Lee Ann Rust in 2012. Now in his second year of partnership with Morgan, one small change has sparked some outstanding results.

“I changed saddles this year. I think my other saddle was a little small, so I went with a wider saddle and it’s made the world of difference,” Morgan said. “He’s really running, and he’s been working really well and running up in the hole.”

Morgan is looking forward to seeing how this season will shape up. After finishing out her rookie year in 2015, she’s coming into this year’s rodeo season with more experience and an upbeat attitude.

“Last year was my first year and I didn’t have the best year, so this year I came out here thinking, ‘Every run is our run. Don’t think about what everyone else is doing. Just go out there and make the best run we can,’ ” Morgan said. “I still have a long road ahead of me, but it’s been fun so far. I hope we can keep up our momentum.”
